Our Diversity and Equality Structure

To achieve our ambitions we’ve concentrated first of all on putting the right leadership structure into place. We’ve created a dedicated Diversity Strategy Board (DSB), representing each part of the organisation, working together to assess how much we’ve achieved, decide our direction and keep an overview of available resources. We also employ a dedicated Diversity Team within HR, which supports the DSB and the organisation’s overall approach to equality and diversity, both inside the Commission and the organisations that we work with.

Leadership at every level

By raising expectations, influencing our peers and increasing accountability, every single person who works here plays a part in our success. We’ve introduced a framework to integrate equality and diversity into all that we do, creating dedicated groups of people to help us:

  • Diversity Champions promote a positive approach in both internal and external work, coordinating and delivering action plans, and contributing to our longer term strategy
  • Diversity and User Focus Regional Service Leads ensure diversity, equality and human rights are at the heart of all external facing work.
  • And Diversity and Equality Representatives, who are present right across our organisation, in each region, raising awareness, sharing knowledge and providing advice and help for any member of staff who feels they have been treated less than fairly.
We have also set up five staff networks.
