For our financial audit roles, you’ll need to be CCAB qualified and have some audit experience behind you, which will vary depending on what level you are interested in. For all levels, strong IT and project management skills will be incredibly important, as will a flair for building effective client relationships. Being able to build, manage and motivate a diverse team of people is also essential. Public sector experience and/or a good understanding of, and interest in, current issues within local government or the NHS would be a real advantage.
However, we also have a selection of positions where it’s important that you have some private sector experience. Our trust practice roles fall into this category, as this is a service that we provide to NHS foundation trusts. These clients need auditors with both public and commercial sector experience to support them with their new freedoms. If you work in this area, you need to be comfortable proactively developing the business and using your commercial skills to identify ways we can enhance our service offering.
But perhaps most importantly, wherever you work, you’ll be passionate about choosing a career which helps improve public services, and the opportunity to work towards that goal within a like-minded team.
