Audit

Organisations that spend public money, like councils, health authorities and trusts and police authorities, are accountable to tax payers for its use. We are legally responsible for appointing independent auditors to these organisations. We set down what is required of auditors in a Code of Audit Practice, approved by Parliament. And we maintain strict controls to make sure audit work is of a consistently high standard.
