The Commission's Housing Inspectorate inspects the services delivered by both local authorities and housing associations.
Housing choice and quality, access to jobs and services and the physical environment of our cities, towns and countryside are important determinants of quality of life. Our work in housing addresses issues like these.
Specifically we focus on driving improvements by local authorities and housing associations to help them create and maintain sustainable communities, taking full account of local circumstances. Our work helps those with responsibilities for increasing housing supply where there is a shortage and seeks to help to revive failing neighbourhoods and improve services for vulnerable people. User focus and value for money are consistent themes of our housing related work.
